Free Fitness Classes during "Sweat the Stress" May 1-May 5! 

Spring Session 2 Classes at the Chinook are FREE

All fitness classes housed in the Chinook will be free to Chinook members through the remainder of the spring semester. Pre-registration is not required, and lass space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please bring your CougarCard, as participants will be required to swipe in. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we will only allow a set number of participants into each class. Arrive early to ensure a spot in the class of your choice. Instructors will begin checking in participants 10 minute before the class starts.

Registration is now open for Summer Session 1 Fitness classes! 

Join us for FREE classes on May 8 and 9. Summer Session 1 classes will run May 10-June 18. Please view our Summer Session 1 Fitness class offerings for the Chinook and the Student Recreation Center and Shared Facility locations. 

 

Become a UREC Fitness Instructor!

Registration is currently open for the summer Fitness Instructor Training course. Registration and details regarding the course can be found on the 'Become a Fitness Instructor' page.

CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensities. CrossFit is broad, general and inclusive fitness that seeks to prepare participants for any physical or unknown contingency. You will work on the foundational movements of CrossFit while increasing your knowledge of fundamental CrossFit exercises and increasing your work capacity. We will begin the semester in Smith 21, and move CrossFit to the Chinook upon the completion of the building. We will communicate with all participants when the move will happen.

This military inspired workout will incorporate a variety of movements and equipment, including the Queenax system from Precor. The Queenax system includes monkey bars, TRX, heavy bags, barbells, kettlebells, and battle ropes. you will use the Queenax with a combination of core strengthening, gymnastics, & body weight movements for the ultimate high intensity, functional fitness class available.

This 30 minute high intensity interval (HIIT) rowing class will consist of a 5 minute warm up, 20 minutes of heart pumping intervals, and a 5 minute cool down with stretching. Participants can control their intensity individually while the instructor leads the class through simulated terrain accompanied with great tunes and energy pumping drills.
