“Action is the foundational key to all success.”

Achieving your goals, no matter what they may be, all start with taking that first step. Whether you are new to fitness and exercise or have been going to the gym for years and need help reaching new goals, taking that first step toward achieving those can be one of the hardest parts. Starting something new can always be scary and it can be difficult to figure out where to start. This is where I come in by working with you to determine what would be best to help you reach your goals and become successful.

After battling through my own injuries that forced me to quit sports I loved, I found a new love and dedication for the gym. I understand how hard it can be to start on your own and feel overwhelmed, but we will work together to make sure you are enjoying your time working out while also doing what it takes to get you to where you want to be. No matter your goal, I will do my absolute best to ensure that you are successful and can continue this path for the rest of your life.

Crisostomo, Tyler

The core of my training philosophy is to move with a purpose. There is a stigma in the gym setting that a complicated and debilitating workout is best. I believe that this mentality is not only bad for the individual as it increases the risk for injury, but for the health and fitness world as well as it intimidates beginners and discourages those who aren’t already elite performers. I also believe in a holistic lifestyle approach that ties together nutrition, sleep, and stress management, with the enjoyable challenging workouts that we will be doing together.

Your goals are the easy part. Whether you want to lose body fat, build muscle, or perform better is just a matter of math. The real work is in helping you create a healthy relationship with exercise and nutrition so you can maintain that progress for the rest of your life. My goal as your personal trainer is not only to help you become the best version of yourself, but to help you develop the skills and tools necessary so that you no longer need a personal trainer.

“There’s a sucker in every room. If you look around the room and can’t decide who it is; It’s you.” – Mark Cuban

Everything in life takes effort. If you aren’t willing to put the work in you will probably end up as “the sucker in the room.”

Physical fitness is one of the many things in life that will take your full effort and attention if you wish to achieve success in it. Whether your goal is athletic performance, a body transformation, general weight room knowledge, or simply to stay healthy and active, I can help.

As a former collegiate athlete I know the value of hard work and striving to achieve a goal. Work with me, and together we will make sure you persevere. When it comes to your goals and your health, don’t be “the sucker in the room.” Work hard and come out on top.

Immel, Kristen

Each new day is a new opportunity to improve yourself. Take it and make the most of it. I have been an athlete my whole life and I have played a wide variety of sports. Based on my experiences I have learned that doing the same variation of exercises is not a positive workout experience. There has been a stigma against working out; “it's just another thing to cross off my list of things to do”. I used to do this, I felt like I had to work out, almost like it was a chore. Once I started changing my workouts I started to looking forward to going to the gym. When I started liking my workouts I started seeing the results I was looking for. This is my personal goal for all my clients; getting them to enjoy working out.

I have worked in the WSU SRC Weight room for 2 years now and this experience motivated me to become a personal trainer. While I would walk around the Weight room patrons would come up to me and ask what exercise they should do to work a certain part of their body. After each time someone would ask me for help I started thinking more about becoming a personal trainer. I finally felt I had enough knowledge to become a personal trainer. I was nervous for the exam because I am a psychology major do not have the anatomy and physiology background. I am now certified in CPR, AED, first aid, and personal training. My goals are to help my clients with setting goals, teaching them how to work out on their own, and to enjoy going to the gym to work out!

Iverson, Katie

I didn’t grow up in a household that prided physical activity or healthy eating. In high school I made the choice to learn how to become healthy, so I joined the soccer and track teams. However, once I graduated high school I had no idea how to exercise without the help of a coach. This led to decline in my health and energy levels. Before transferring to WSU I was determined to learn how to program exercise for myself and adopt nutritious eating habits. Through employment at UREC I discovered the sport science major. Learning more about this field of study ignited my passion for using exercise as medicine and motivated me to change majors from mechanical engineering. The background I have in engineering helps me to have a strong grasp on how the body should move to be efficient and to preserve joint and muscle health while making strength gains. Motivating my family and myself to adopt healthy eating and exercise habits fueled my decision to become a personal trainer.

Exercise is for all people, no matter what your current health status is. As a trainer  I love to help people discover how much they are capable of and how they can increase their energy levels by adopting a consistent exercise program. I know how it feels to feel out of place in the weight room and not being sure how to start making healthy lifestyle choices, so I can relate to you through personal experience. Whether you are new to exercise, looking to add something different to your current program, or have a medical diagnosis, I can help you reach your goals and hit ones you never thought were possible. Let me help you build your active lifestyle upon a strong foundation that will allow you to remain active throughout the rest of your life and greatly reduce your risk of disease and injury.

Gone for Summer

Exercise and nutrition are integral parts of life for endurance athletes as well as the average person. Regular activity combined with a healthy diet not only improves the way you feel, but also the way you perform physical and mental tasks throughout the day.

Throughout high school I was a year-round athlete competing in baseball and wrestling throughout Western Washington. Being involved in two vastly different sports I had to learn to find ways to improve strength and speed for wrestling, while also improving balance, stability, and control for baseball. I have attended various clinics for baseball skill development including a course on increasing strength and flexibility to increase a pitcher of any size’s throwing velocity.

Steven Fernandez, Steven

“If I always do what I’ve always done, I’ll always be who I’ve always been”

From a young age I have always struggled with putting on muscle, often being bullied for being as skinny as I was. Knowing something had to be done, I looked to sports to open the door into health and fitness. I was a USA Junior Olympic Track and field athlete for three years, carrying into high school as a varsity athlete all 4 years. Among that, I trained in basketball, football, soccer and Muay Thai. After high school I enlisted in the US Navy and this led me down the path of bodybuilding and powerlifting; participating in numerous powerlifting competitions while deployed overseas. From that point on I knew it was my responsibility to help guide others who struggle with finding their place in the health and fitness community.

With my vast background in athletics and experience as a Command Fitness Leader while in the Navy, I know that I can aid you in finding your ultimate genetic potential; whether it be strength, fat loss or building jaw dropping confidence. With me as your personal trainer you will find a part of yourself unknown to you, and the world around you. You will be stronger mentally, physically, and even emotionally as we journey deeper and deeper into the goals we set together. Every objective starts with one single step in the right direction, so let’s work together to pave a path to greatness!

Stolte, Grtechen

Exercise is the best medicine on the market – and guess what? It’s free to move! Our bodies were designed to be in motion in order to promote longevity and improve quality of life. Whether you’re brand new to working out, in need of some guidance, or just trying to prioritize exercise, let’s work together to find an exercise program that’s right for you! I build my programs off the fundamental principles of exercise physiology in order to achieve optimal results.

Growing up, I was a multi-sport athlete. I spent most of my youth training as a soccer player, and ended up playing one year at the club level in college. After finishing my competitive athlete career, I struggled with finding new ways to continue to be physically active without having practice multiple times a week. Facing this challenge has led me to rediscover my passion for exercise and taught me how to present myself with new fitness goals to pursue – and I am confident that I can provide you with the skills necessary to achieve your goals!

As a Kinesiology student, I have become involved with research on multiple platforms. I serve as the project coordinator for a study that investigates how functional resistance training can potentially alleviate the uncomfortable physical symptoms of late second and early third trimester of pregnancy. I make it a priority to stay up to date on the newest findings in the health and wellness realm so that I am providing my clients with the best tools and information to succeed!

Xiaerzhate, Ai Li Ti "Shirzat"

When it comes to training, too many people exercise blindly and think there are “shortcuts” to achieve fitness goals.  Additionally, in order to achieve a healthier lifestyle, along with dedication and self-control, there is a big component that the majority of population is missing out – fitness knowledge.  Do not fall prey to the false shortcuts.  Rather, seek adversity and challenges that will catalyze a healthier you.

By accepting these challenges there will inevitably be barriers you must overcome. However, the barriers we overcome today will build character for us tomorrow. As your personal trainer, I will help you leap these hurdles. In addition, my ultimate goal is to make sure you reach a level of confidence and fitness knowledge that you will be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the future.

As an international student, I lived a very sedentary life in an environment where sport and fitness was not highly valued. Personally, I have experienced a lot of common setbacks through my journey of training, such as not getting the results I wanted, exhaustion in training, injury, and many other impediments that I had to overcome. I know it is hard, but as your personal trainer I will be able to help you navigate any barrier you encounter.  Together we can reach any fitness goal you set for yourself.
