CrossFit

 

  

Washington State University CrossFit is a national CrossFit affiliate. CrossFit is broad, general and inclusive fitness that seeks to prepare participants for any physical or unknown contingency. Classes are designed for those who are seeking to get fit, have a great time, or even compete in the sport of CrossFit. Our WODs (workout of the day) are scaled to your fitness level and appropriate for both beginners and the experienced CrossFitter. 

To participate in CrossFit, you will need to be a Chinook member. Learn more about memberships. 

To participate in CrossFit, you have options:   
  1. Get started with CrossFit Jump Start! This is a week-long beginner focused course with the new CrossFitter in mind.  This is a fast on-ramp to CrossFit with lecture, discussion, and coaching the foundation movements of CrossFit. This 5-day course gives you everything you need to be ready to enroll in the Washington State University CrossFit Pass system.
  2. Purchase the Washington State University CrossFit Pass. The Pass will allow you to attend an unlimited amount of CrossFit classes, including Open Gyms, Intro to CrossFit and WODAsana!Pass holders may attend classes in facilities in which they are members; SRC members may attend classes in Stephenson Fitness Center, Chinook members may attend classes at the Chinook.
  3. Register for an Intro to CrossFit course. These classes are eight weeks long and meet twice a week at a reduced cost from the Pass option. The days of the week depending on which section you register for, please see below for specific days and times. Intro to CrossFit classes are beginner focused with an emphasis on slow progression and movement coaching. We offer Introduction classes in the Chinook, and the Stephenson Fitness Center, as well as a Women's Only section!
  4. Purchase a CrossFit Punch Card. You can get a punch card for 1 class ($8), 5 classes ($40) or 10 classes ($80). If you are not a Chinook member you'll also need to purchase a day pass ($8) each day to use the facility. CrossFit Punch Cards are available for purchase at the front desk in Chinook. 

Note: If you are an SRC member and not a Chinook member, you can still purchase the CrossFit Pass. However, you will also need to purchase a day pass ($8) each day to use the facility.

Coaches will begin checking in athletes 10 minutes before the start of class.  You may visit our Membership website for more details on access to the Chinook.

Ready to sign up for CrossFit but are worried that you don't know the movements or aren't in shape yet? CrossFit Jump Start is just for you. Jump start is 5 days long, intended to immerse you in the world of CrossFit, teach you the movements, and give you the foundation for success in our regular classes. To participate in CrossFit, you will need a Chinook membership. At the end of the Jump Start you should be ready to jump in to the regular CrossFit Classes by purchasing a CrossFit Pass and join the rest of the WSU CrossFit Community! Upon graduation on that Friday of class, if you have attended at least 4 days that week, you will receive your CrossFit shirt, and will be ready to roll your Jump Start experience right in to a CrossFit Pass! This section will be Monday - Friday, August 19-August 23 4:15-5:15 pm in Chinook B40. If you attend 4 out of the 5 classes, you will receive a WSU CrossFit T-shirt. This class is normally $20, but free this week as part of our All Access week at UREC.

Palouse Throwdown VI: When Worlds Collide will feature a CrossFit competition and a Strongman competition. It will be an exciting day at the Valley Road Playfields! This year's CrossFit Competition will be same sex partners. Those competing in Strongman events will register as individuals. We welcome competitors from across the Northwest and beyond! This is the RX Men's division. If signing up in this division, you should be able to complete the following: Double Unders Chin over the bar Pullups Toes to Bar Squat cleans at least 135lbs Snatches at at least 95lbs Deadlifts at at least 225 More information on events will be released in early August 2019. All participants are guaranteed at least 3 workouts. Workouts will be released and posted a few weeks prior to the event date.
